Eric Tingstad: Home

2007 GRAMMY Nominee

“Southwest was definitely the right direction for Eric Tingstad to turn in discovering a new musical path ... (he) has taken a country sound, touched it with his chamber music aesthetic and added just enough trail dust to make it earthy and real.” John Diliberto - Echoes

2002 Grammy Award-winning fingerstyle guitarist, Eric Tingstad is well known for his impressionistic style, and an uncanny ability to unearth the soul of musical landscapes creating a distinctive sense of place.

“I’ve heard 3 great albums with a southwest theme in the last 35 years Ry Cooder's "Paris, Texas," Steve Roach's "Dust To Dust" and "Southwest" by Eric Tingstad” Dave Butler - InnerVisions Syndicated Radio Program

A longstanding and highly visible steward of the land, Tingstad conceived this project eight years ago under the working title, "The Desert Project." He envisioned an earthy and evocative mood he refers to as "Native Americana Western Desert Chill."

“The imposing geography and climate of the American Southwest inspire many visitors to endow those who live there with magical and mystical qualities. Remote from the nation's population centers, and a forbidding place for many to live, it evokes awe for those who walk in beauty on the ancient lands of the desert dwellers. “Southwest” is inspired by the shadows of this land and the peoples, ancient and new. It reminds us the old ways are not entirely lost. Journey through this music in a good way, learn to talk and listen with our mother earth perhaps strange yet familiar.” Gary Stroutsos
